Master Shelly Iverson, 5th Dan

  

Master Shelly Iverson was one of Grand Master Carl Tate’s first students at Black Belt of Karate in Calgary. Master Iverson was promoted to Cho Dan in 2003. She actively trained at the Black Belt of Karate until BBK closed in November 2013, at which time Master Iverson decided to open her own school, the Black Belt Academy.


“My son and I were Grand Master Tate’s first students back in 2001 and I lover the art as much today as the first day I started. For me it’s about the people I meet and sharing the art no matter what your capabilities are, or you age. Have Fun!”

David Von Hollen, 3rd Dan - Head Instructor

  

Mr. David Von Hollen has experience in several martial arts systems and was promoted to Sam Dan in 2017 in Tang Soo Do under Master Iverson. He specializes in street self defense with a focus on teaching how all aspects of Tang Soo Do can be used to defend.


He takes a very active role at Black Belt Academy as owner and Head Instructor at Black Belt Academy, his motto is ”having fun while learning Tang Soo Do”. He teaches weekly the Little Tigers and Family Classes and is always looking for ways to make himself, and his school better. Mr. Von Hollen has two daughters who are both Ee Dans. He focuses on Servant Leadership, taking a special interest in each of his students to help them to help them achieve their potential.

Ashlee Von Hollen, 2nd Dan

  

Ms. Ashlee Von Hollen spent the last several years learning Tang Soo Do with her father, David Von Hollen. She was promoted to 2nd Dan in 2016 under Master Iverson. She has participated in several Tang Soo Do demonstration activities in recent years for school and community associations.


She takes an active role in Black Belt Academy assisting her father teaching the Little Tiger classes. She is recognized by her peers as great role model for kids on how to be successful in Tang Soo Do and in life. 

Jessica Von Hollen, 2nd Dan

  

Ms. Jessica Von Hollen spent the last several years learning Tang Soo Do with her father, David Von Hollen. She was promoted to 2nd Dan in 2016 under Master Iverson. In 2014 she participated in Tang Soo Do demonstration activities in recent years for school and community associations.


She takes an active role in Black Belt Academy assisting her father teaching the Little Tiger classes. She is an inspiration to her peers and fellow students, demonstrating that through focus and dedication, anything is possible.

Murad Zaamont. 1st Dan

Mr. Murad Zaamont was promoted to 1st Dan in 2018 under Master Iverson, and assists in classes.
